BookMyShow Live has hailed the second edition of Lollapalooza India as a success, after thousands descended on Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse for two days of live music.

The line-up featured international artists such as Sting, One Republic and Keane, as well local musicians like Anoushka Shankar.

It is the second time Lollapalooza has held an Indian edition, and is the result of a partnership between BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiential division of BookMyShow, and producers Perry Farrell and C3 Presents.

Last year’s inaugural Lollapalooza India attracted 60,000 fans, who enjoyed performances from The Strokes, Divine, Jackson Wang and Imagine Dragons, among 40 different acts.

Additionally, the festival featured the first VerTech stage which was installed to boost the live entertainment landscape of the country. Further highlights included an immersive installation from BookMyShow, as well as a host of interactive games. For attendees that needed a break, Lollapalooza India featured a ‘Safe Space For All’, which was introduced to assist festival-goers experiencing anxiety.

BookMyShow chief of business Owen Roncon revealed last week that he believed next year’s third edition will be the first event to break even. Roncon claimed that a boost in attendance at live events with international artists have contributed to the success of Lollapalooza India.
