Middlesbrough switches to SeatGeek after fan survey

English Championship club Middlesbrough FC says fan feedback was key in its decision to hire SeatGeek as its new ticketing partner.

The second-tier team joins Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Leicester City, Sheffield United and Brighton and Hove Albion, as well as the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Derby County and Bristol City in the Championship.

Middlesbrough said a new mobile and web offering will be in place ahead of the start of the new 2019-20 season in early August.

The club said it has responded to calls from supporters requesting a ticket service with “increased clarity and flexibility”. Following fan feedback, SeatGeek will also assist in the launch of a new priority scheme.

Derek Matthews, head of ticketing at Middlesbrough, said: “We’re delighted to be working with SeatGeek, who have a proven track record with a host of clubs in football and other sports.

“We’re looking forward to getting the new system up and running to offer our fans a much-improved customer service.”

Middlesbrough recorded an average home gate of 23,217 at the 35,000-capacity Riverside Stadium in 2018-19, putting them 10th in the Championship attendance rankings.

SeatGeek’s UK Sport managing director Peter Joyce said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Middlesbrough FC on board as a SeatGeek client.

“The club’s management team carried out an extensive review process over a sustained period of time and had a clear vision to enhance all aspects of the supporter buying experience across ticketing, memberships and hospitality solutions in use at the club.”
