Clippers offer free playoffs tickets

The Columbus Clippers have announced there will be free admission to home games for the end-of-season Governors’ Cup playoffs.

The Minor League Baseball (MiLB) team will begin the playoffs on Wednesday against Gwinnett, while Game 2 of the series, which will be best-of-five, is scheduled for Thursday.

Clippers president and general manager Ken Schnacke pledged several weeks ago that there would be free tickets to playoff games for a second straight season if the team exceeded 600,000 in paid admissions for the regular season.

Columbus drew 10,875 in its final schedule game on Saturday at Huntington Park to boost the final total to 602,171.

The Governors’ Cup is the trophy awarded each year to the champion of the International League, one of the two current Triple-A level minor leagues of Major League Baseball (MLB).
