Amazon Tickets hosts Robbie Williams gig

Amazon Tickets has reiterated its ambitions within the live music sector by organising a one-off Robbie Williams concert in London for its members.

The gig will take place at the 1,400-capacity St John at Hackney Church on December 14, with tickets going on sale today (Tuesday) for £125 ($159/€148). The concert is a forerunner to the former Take That star’s 2017 European stadium tour, The Heavy Entertainment Show.

Amazon Tickets is to enforce a number of restrictions for the event, with tickets to be picked up only after the display of valid ID at the venue box office. Only two tickets can be bought at a time.

Amazon Tickets said: “The British music icon and 18-time BRIT Award-winner will be performing old favourites alongside tracks from his new album ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’.

“The 18th century, Grade II-listed St John at Hackney Church is an appropriately iconic venue for one of the most prolific entertainers in modern British music. The church has served the people of Hackney for over 700 years, and in recent times has established itself as one of the coolest and most distinctive concert spaces in London.”

Amazon recently posted a number of job adverts in which it said wants to become “the world’s premier destination for purchasing tickets” as it revealed more about its ambitions for the sector.
