Ents24’s Hardest Working Artists of the Year named

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan and veteran pop group Showaddywaddy have been named the hardest working acts in their respective fields during 2016.

The annual Top 20 Hardest Working Artists of the Year survey, conducted by live events guide and ticketing platform Ents24, determines which music acts and comedians performed at the most different venues over the course of 12 months.

Ranganathan took the top spot in the comedy category having toured his ‘Irrational’ tour throughout 2016 while also finding time to squeeze in TV shows ‘The Dog Ate my Homework’, ‘Asian Provocateur’ and ‘It’s Not Rocket Science’. Russell Kane and last year’s winner Patrick Monahan were second and third in the list.

“This honour not only highlights my work ethic this year, but also the level of neglect of my duties as both a husband and father. I look forward to this title being cited in the divorce proceedings,” joked Ranganathan.

Showaddywaddy retained the music title they also won for 2015 thanks to registering more listed shows in different venues than any other artist. Fellow established acts John Otway, The Searchers, Bay City Rollers and Fairport Convention completed the top five, while Gareth Gates, Jools Holland and Jason Donovan also made the top 20.

Ents 24 said: “With 15 million unique users using Ents24 around the UK this year alone, we were keen to determine which of the artists we list covers the most ground.”
