Songkick hits right note with Shazam

Songkick's list of upcoming events is to be featured within music discovery application Shazam, which boasts more than one billion downloads worldwide.

A partnership between the two, which is to be rolled out in 2017, will integrate ticketing and concert discovery site Songkick’s concert data and information directly into Shazam.

Shazam users can now find hundreds of thousands of artists' tour dates at the moment they're finding new music. Songkick will also have access to Shazam’s expanding global community.

“The moment of discovery is such an important time to educate the fan about a show,” said Matt Jones, chief executive of Songkick. “I’m proud to say we’ve built a technology platform that will enable every artist we work with, and every fan who uses us, a chance to seamlessly discover new artists and immediately have the opportunity to see them live.

“Shazam plays such a pivotal role in music discovery, and we’re excited to expand our reach to millions of more live music fans around the globe, ensuring Songkick is available wherever fans are engaging the most."

Songkick said that fans who use its service, which was merged with CrowdSurge last year, are now attending over twice as many shows each year.

Fabio Santini, Shazam's chief product officer, added: “In partnering with Songkick to create this new offering, we are able to further connect the dots from discovery to fandom that make up a strong artist-to-fan relationship. We are extremely excited about bringing this to our global community in 2017.”
