Raiders-Texans tickets half the price of other NFL wildcard games

Oakland Raiders’ trip to Houston Texans is the steal of this weekend’s NFL American football wildcard games, with tickets around half the price of the other three games.

The get-in price for the NRG Stadium game is $92 (£75/€88.50) on SeatGeek, compared to an average of $161 for the other matches. The difference is slightly less but still considerable on StubHub, at $81 compared to $129, and Vivid Seats, at $70 to $127.

The average ticket price for Raiders-Texans on TickPick.com is $221, which is less than half of the $497 offered for the Detroit Lions-Seattle Seahawks matchup. New York Giants at Green Bay Packers are at an average of $267, with Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers at $308.

NFL organisers may be a little worried that the lack of demand for the game in Houston comes just a month before the NRG Stadium hosts the Super Bowl LI championship match.

Looking ahead to the divisional games later this month, TicketIQ reported that the Dallas Cowboys are “setting record price points”.

“In addition to being the most expensive divisional game tracked over the last eight seasons, the Cowboys’ upcoming playoff matchup is the third priciest NFL game TicketIQ has ever tracked,” said a TicketIQ spokesperson. “Cowboys playoff tickets currently average over $700 with a $245 get-in price. Standing-room-only tickets can be found from $116 each.”
