Chargers take aim at ticket resellers ahead of StubHub Center move

NFL American football franchise the Los Angeles Chargers wants to constrain the reselling of tickets by introducing a seat-selection policy ahead of its first season at the StubHub Center.

The Chargers, who have relocated from San Diego, said that the policy will begin this week, and that they reserve “the right to enforce a policy that all season tickets should be used primarily by season ticket members and their personal guests.”

Season-ticket holders are not guaranteed seats, even if they have put a deposit down for tickets. Fans who are able to get seats will be limited to four per household or establishment.

The Chargers have acted out of concern that demand will vastly outstrip supply as StubHub Center’s 30,000 capacity is less than half that of their previous venue, the Qualcomm Stadium. The focus on limiting the reselling of tickets at their StubHub-sponsored arena, which is also home to the LA Galaxy MLS team, will not be lost on many.

Four different sets of season tickets were being advertised last week for as much as $6,000 (€5,700/£4,900) on VividSeats.com and Craigslist.com.

The most expensive package offered by the Chargers is $3,750. Fans will have opportunities to sell their tickets on an individual game basis.
