Concacaf chief Montagliani to lead Fifa Ticketing division

Fifa vice-president Victor Montagliani has become the chairman of Fifa Ticketing AG, the subsidiary that is responsible for the global sale of tickets for the Fifa World Cup.

Montagliani, the Canadian who is president of Concacaf, Central and North American football’s governing body, was elected to his new position by Fifa’s extraordinary General Assembly and the Fifa Ticketing board of directors of Fifa Ticketing.

As chairman Montagliani will manage and provide leadership to the board of directors, provide advice and counsel to the overall ticketing project, and observe its effective implementation in accordance with the related policies and directives of Fifa.

The Fifa Ticketing chairman is required to be independent from the management of ticketing operations, and free from any interest and any business or other relationship which could interfere with impartiality.

The announcement comes just days after the first phase of ticketing for Russia 2018 began, with more than 500,000 requests made in the opening 24 hours.

“I am honoured for this appointment as chair on this board and pleased to serve our Fifa membership to provide counsel for an important component to our core asset, the Fifa World Cup,” said Montagliani.

Montagliani is joined on the board by Fifa secretary general Fatma Samoura, Fifa chief financial officer Thomas Peyer, Fifa chief commercial officer Philippe Le Floc’h, and Fifa director operational legal Jörg Vollmüller.
