High demand for Man United vs Liverpool in US

Liverpool’s match against Manchester United in the International Champions Cup in the US has already shifted more than 102,000 tickets.

The match will be held at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, where Man U last played Real Madrid and had record capacity of 109,318.

Michigan Stadium, nicknamed “The Big House”, is the American football stadium for the University of Michigan and is the largest stadium in the US, and the second largest in the world.

Its official capacity is 107,601, but it has hosted crowds in excess of 115,000.

The Premier League teams will meet in the US on July 29 and is part of a 27-match series that will take place in the US, Europe and Singapore this year.

While the teams will use the competition as a friendly, the competition still draws huge attendances in the States, along with major commercial appeal to European clubs.

A total of 17 out of the 27 games will be played in American stadiums – mainly the kind of giant venues usually reserved for college football or the NFL.
