Cricket WC19 bowled over by Ticketmaster

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales has named Ticketmaster as its exclusive ticketing partner.

The England and Wales Cricket Board awarded the ticketing giant the deal to provide a comprehensive ticketing service including marketing, operations and customer service.

England will open the tournament, which will be held from May 30 to July 14 next year, at The Oval when they will take on South Africa, while Australia will launch their title defence on June 1 against the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier champions Afghanistan in a day/night match in Bristol.

Steve Elworthy, managing director of Cricket World Cup 2019, said: “With their rich history of ticketing sporting events of this calibre, Ticketmaster was an obvious choice for us. As one of the most watched sporting events in the world, we require the best when it comes to servicing our cricket fans. Ticketmaster have the technology, marketing tools, unrivalled reach and experience we need, and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

The announcement coincides with the launch of the public ballot backed by an inclusive marketing and PR campaign called ‘Are you in?’ starring Freddie Flintoff. The Public Ballot allows fans to apply for tickets for every match between Aug 1st and Aug 29th by entering the ballot at https://tickets.cricketworldcup.com/.

There will be a general sale of all remaining tickets in late September with a fan-to-fan exchange site for those that need to return or swap their tickets.

Adam Newsam, managing director of Ticketmaster Sport, said: “The Cricket World Cup is one of the most prestigious events in the global sports calendar, and we are proud to be ticketing partner. Our team of dedicated experts and passionate cricket fans look forward to providing the best-in-class services that only Ticketmaster can offer.”
