TickX lifts curtain on cinema ticket discovery

TickX has added movies to its portfolio after launching a new cinema ticket search engine that lists every film currently showing in the UK.

The platform boasts of showing every film from every theatre at every show time in one place. TickX has also implemented a new recommendation system, which allows fans to flick through the trailers on the TickX app and ‘swiping right’ to like the film promo and ‘swiping left’ to dismiss it. The system then gives recommendations based on the user’s preferences.

According to TickX, British cinema-goers are three times more likely to choose their film based on watching a trailer than to trust a friend’s opinion.

In addition to cinema tickets, TickX customers can also find tickets to hundreds of thousands of gigs, comedy, festivals, attractions, theatre, club nights and sports.

TickX searches more than 75 ticket selling platforms, including Ticketmaster, Skiddle and Headout.

Steve Pearce, TickX chief executive, said: “Going to live entertainment is amazing but sometimes going out means relaxing and catching the latest film at the cinema. Our research shows we’re a nation of cinema lovers, so we’re delighted to launch our cinema ticket search engine to make it easier than ever to find and buy the best tickets for the movies.”

Earlier this year, TickX raised £3m in a Series A funding round, led by BGF Ventures.

The firm said the investment has allowed them to continue its expansion globally and become a popular choice for people looking to discover and buy entertainment tickets.

TickX is now live in four European markets, including the UK, Ireland, Spain and The Netherlands, with further expansion across Europe is due later this year.
