Swansea scores first with in-app season tix

Swansea City FC has become the first UK football club to launch in-app season tickets, following a successful trial of the method for home matchday tickets.

The new in-app ticketing has been developed in conjunction with the Championship club’s partners Sports Alliance, Other Media and Ticketmaster.

The improved technology means Swans fans with a season ticket will be able to display their season card on their mobile phones at the turnstile to gain entry to all football fixtures at the Liberty Stadium.

Season cards will also remain fully operational going forward as an additional option. Swansea also encouraged fans to bring their card for the next game against Norwich City on November 24 as a back-up option while the club continues to test the new in-app functionality.

“We’ve been informed that we are the first football club in the UK to introduce in-app season tickets, which in an added bonus for the club and our fans,” said Swansea City’s head of digital Rebecca Symmons.

To use the feature, supporters will need to have a Swans Club Account, which allows fans to use all Swansea City platforms using only one login.

Once in the app, fans should scroll on the navigation at the base of the app to “TICKETS”, and sign in. The season ticket will then appear and when it is clicked on, supporters will see the barcode along with seat and row details.
