Harren to lead music development at StubHub

StubHub has announced another senior appointment after naming Jay Harren as its new music business development lead.

Harren had held a number of senior A&R positions with record labels including Sony and Columbia before joining the ticket marketplace in October.

Based in StubHub’s New York office, Harren fills the head of business development (music) position recently held by Rick Holtzman. He will report to Jeff Poirier, StubHub’s general manager of music, theatre and performing arts.

“After 12 years of working closely with artists on the recorded music side (A&R), I’m excited to change directions and begin working with them on the live side of their business,” said Harren, who had been vice-president A&R at Sony Music’s Descendant Records division since 2012.

“We have lots of cool things in the works and will be rolling them out in the months to come.”

In an interview with Billboard, Harren said he plans to use his platform at StubHub to help artists, especially those in the mid-tier, benefit from the secondary market.

“It is a passion of mine to make sure that we can figure out a way to help artists who are doing well, do even better,” says Harren.

Harren’s appointment comes in the same week that StubHub appointed Greg Mrva as its new chief financial officer.
