Korn to perform in ‘video game battle concert’

American nu metal band Korn has announced it will perform several virtual concerts in multiplayer game AdventureQuest.

Artix Entertainment, the game’s developer, said players would be involved in “fight monsters”, “score loot” and “the most brutal mosh pit ever” at the virtual rock concert, hosted at the new AdventureQuest Battle Concert Arena.

During the concert, which begins on tomorrow (Tuesday) at sundown, the band will debut a song from its upcoming album The Nothing.

There is no cost for fans to attend Korn’s virtual concert and gamers can replay the event for a month after.

A special event package is available to buy, including Korn-branded items, the “heavy metal mosh pit armour” and exclusive travel forms. Players can also purchase a backstage pass, “to get a virtual backstage experience with the virtual band and take a virtual selfie.”

Virtual in-game concerts have taken off in the last year after a record ten million Fortnite players attended a gig by electronic music producer Marshmello in February.

In July, social virtual reality platform Sansar teamed up with electronic dance music label Monstercat to bring live music to fans via VR.

Korn have been touring the United States, in person, since the end of July.
