UEFA has revealed there have been requests for over 30 million tickets from fans of confirmed participating teams in Euro 2024.
Following the announcement of group stage fixtures, venues and kick-off times, a ticket application phase dedicated to the supporters of the participating national teams opened until December 12.
Each participating national association received 10,000 tickets for their fans for each match, with several associations having already sold their entire ticket allocation directly to their own fans. The remaining tickets will be allocated as part of the lottery conducted by UEFA.
More than 30 million ticket applications were received from 206 countries between December 2 and 12. Compared to the initial application phase for the general public – where 35% of tickets were requested by fans outside of Germany – this time saw 59% request tickets from outside the host country.
Outside of Germany, the most tickets were requested by fans supporting Turkey, Hungary, England, Albania and Croatia.
Tickets for prime seats went on offer for the first time, with UEFA witnessing strong demand among fans wishing to watch a match from centrally located seats within category one.
A second chance to be there
A lottery will be held where demand has exceeded the number of available tickets, and fans will be informed by the end of January whether their request in this phase has been successful.
Over the coming weeks, UEFA will release unclaimed tickets and will include them in the lottery for those that applied through the portal.
During the first ticketing sales phase in October, over 20 million tickets were requested by fans worldwide, exceeding the 1.2 million tickets that were available.
The European governing body added that it will work diligently to detect fraudulent applications, which were observed and removed throughout both ticket application phases. There will also be an official UEFA Euro 2024 resale platform that is set to be launched in March, further eliminating the risk of fraudulent activity. Fans have been urged not to purchase tickets on the secondary market.
Hospitality packages for all stadiums are being sold through 2024 Hospitality Experience, the official hospitality provider of UEFA Euro 2024.
