Vista Group recruits new CFO

New Zealand-based cinema technology supplier Vista Group, the owner of Vista Cinema, has appointed Matt Cawte as its new chief financial officer.

Vista Group provides film industry technology solutions for studios, distributors, exhibitors, and moviegoers globally. Its Vista Cinema software is installed in cinemas in more than 80 countries.

Cawte, who will assume his role in August, was previously CFO and chief commercial officer of Biomatters, a bioinformatics subscription and SaaS (software as a service) software business. He was formerly general manager of Orica NZ (now Ixom) and CFO of Wellington Drive Technologies.

Kimbal Riley, Vista Group’s chief executive, said: “He has a broad financial and commercial background, international experience, considerable high-tech knowledge, as well as public company experience – all of which we believe will be invaluable as Vista Group continues to grow as the global leader in software and big data for the film industry.”

Vista Cinema, the company’s core product, supports box office and concession points of sale (POS), and back of house operations.

Other Vista Cinema products include mobile applications, head office administration and analysis and moviegoer services such as online ticketing and loyalty programmes.

Vista Cinema provides software to over 5,500 cinemas in more than 80 countries, with itsglobal market share in the cinema market calculated at 38 per cent.
