India’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has named BookMyShow as the tournament’s official ticketing platform as the general sale gets under way today.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the sales process for the tournament will be introduced in a series of phases, with a Mastercard pre-sale having been opened yesterday (Thursday). Mumbai-headquartered IPL has been selected to run ticketing for the tournament having held exclusive ticketing rights to the Indian Premier League since 2022.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 runs from October 5 to November 19, with warm-up games in India commencing on September 29.
“As we approach the highly anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, a pinnacle event in this year’s international calendar, we are thrilled to unveil BookMyShow as the ticketing platform,” said Hemang Amin, BCCI’s interim chief executive.
“The commencement of online ticket sales marks a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. With unwavering confidence, we anticipate a seamless ticketing experience, aimed at offering fans unobstructed access to the thrilling on-field encounters.
“Our commitment extends to deploying efficient access control mechanisms and comprehensive support, ensuring every enthusiast has the chance to revel in the live-action spectacle from the stadium stands.”
The tournament will feature a total of 58 matches, including 10 warm-up fixtures, hosted across 12 prominent venues throughout the nation.
As announced earlier this month, tickets go on sale today (Friday) for all Non-India event matches excluding warm-up games. Tickets for India’s games in Guwahati and Trivandrum go on sale from August 30, with tickets for the host nation’s matches in other cities becoming available between August 31 and September 3. Fans can buy tickets for the semi finals and final on September 15.
