European mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion Oktagon MMA has revealed that more than 30,000 tickets have been sold for its event at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park (pictured).

The figure was reached less than three weeks after tickets were placed on sale, with the event to take place on October 12.

Germany’s Christian Eckerlin and Christian Jungwirth are scheduled to headline, with Max Coga set to make his Oktagon MMA debut.

Oktagon MMA announced plans to host an event at Deutsche Bank Park, home of Bundesliga football club Eitracht Frankfurt, in March.

The promotion had previously staged an event at Cologne’s Lanxess Arena, the largest indoor arena in Germany, in November. With an attendance of 19,000, the event broke the crowd record for an MMA event in Germany at the time.

Organisers are hoping to attract some 55,000 fans for the MMA event in Frankfurt.

“There has been magic around Frankfurt since we first came to the city. We sold out Festhalle at our first event, and every time we came it got bigger and bigger,” said co-owner of Oktagon MMA, Pavol Neruda.

“We believed that there was a chance to go even bigger, and try and sell out the football stadium. For us, it is a huge step, and we are always humble in front of our goal because it is super ambitious, but we believe it will be sold out.

“There will be a world-class half-time show for fans to enjoy and we really want to give German fans an epic night of MMA.”
