South Korean digital payment service, Naver Pay, has partnered with sports and entertainment blockchain Chiliz, to expand its global services through Web3 innovations.

Naver Pay works with businesses that are looking to streamline payments and enhance customer engagement via rewards. The partnership will aim to harness the fan token ecosystem of the Chiliz Chain to create strategies for exclusive ticketing and payment services, as well as hosting fan-centric events.

Chiliz already boasts partnerships with sporting organisations through its Socios platform such as English Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, Spanish LaLiga side FC Barcelona and French Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain.

More recently, it has also secured deals with football competitions such as South Korea’s K League.

“This partnership with Chiliz marks a significant milestone in our journey towards integrating cutting-edge Web3 technologies as part of our global expansion,” said Naver Pay chief executive Park Sang-jin.

“Together, we aim to transform the way our users engage with sports and entertainment, enhancing their experiences with innovative solutions tailored to their passions.”

Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz, added: “South Korea is a very important market for us due to the maturity of both its sports and crypto sectors. We’re excited to partner with Naver Pay to introduce unique experiences that leverage the power of blockchain and bring value to the sporting community.”
