Seven people were taken to hospital following a crowd surge at UK festival Boardmasters.
The incident happened on Friday at the music and surfing festival, which was held in Newquay, Cornwall.
Organisers said that the guests had been transferred to hospital for a “precautionary” examination after being seen by the event’s medical team.
Devon and Cornwall Police added that they had been notified of a “crowd collapse” at the event. In a statement at the time, the police said: “Contrary to speculation, we can confirm that there have been no deaths as a result of this incident. This is an isolated incident and the festival continues.”
Following the crowd surge, Boardmasters released a statement to reassure attendees that the stage had reopened following a full review of safety management processes.
“We would also like to reassure everyone that we have experienced pit and security teams in place across the festival,” the statement added.
The crowd surge was not the only reported incident at a major music event over the weekend. The BBC reported that several guests had fainted while waiting to enter Bludfest, an event headlined by host Yungblud at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes yesterday (Sunday).
The artist wanted to create an inclusive and accessible event, which boasted a 30,000 capacity and tickets available for less than £50 (€58/$64).
Performers include Lil Yachty, Soft Play (formerly known as Slaves), Jazmin Bean, Lola Young and more.
