BookMyShow app hailed by Apple and Google

BookMyShow, the online ticketing platform, has been touted as one of the best apps of 2017 on both Google PlayStore and on Apple’s App Store.

The Indian operator, which is looking to broaden its services to events after coming to dominate the online cinema tickets market, featured in Apple’s Best of 2017 list in its Trends of the Year section. This featured App Store editors’ most download-worthy games and apps globally based on topics and trends that were popular on the App store throughout the year.

BookMyShow, which handled sales for Ed Sheeran’s concert in Mumbai in November, believes it is benefitting from a mobile-first strategy, with more than 75 per cent of its transactions coming via handheld devices.

Parikshit Dar, a director at BookMyShow, said: “At its heart, BookMyShow is a simple product that provides a simple solution to pertinent problems that users like you and I face related to entertainment experiences. In all our endeavours, we continue to identify and solve these problems to create an unmatched experience for our users.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our efforts this year have not just beloved by our users, but also recognised by both Google and Apple.”

Apple recognised BookMyShow as an app “which helps people get more done each day through time-saving personal services that continue to evolve”.

It has been a busy year for the company, with its Jukebox video and audio content platform enriching its post-purchase service for customers.

It also became the first Indian operator to roll out messaging service WhatsApp’s business beta testing services.

In October it was reported that BookMyShow was in talks over a strategic partnership with Indian online shopping giant Flipkart.
