Tech Stack: Hybrid theatre performances and more…

Independent support

Independent ticketing platform Dice has been appointed the primary ticketing partner for venue management company, Dead Melodies. Following an existing partnership with Dead Melodies’ Mash venue in Cambridge, the deal has now expanded to cover Chalk in Brighton. The venue is located opposite the Brighton Pier and has hosted a number of live events from the likes of Self Esteem, Michael Kiwanuka, Fontaines DC, Raye, Bicep, Snow Patrol and more.

Blending live performance and streaming

Theatre company TomYumSim (originally from Australia but now based across Manchester and London in the UK) is set to take over Theatre Deli Sheffield with a hybrid Live x Digital show, which will blend live performance with live-streaming on Instagram. Unlike more traditional theatres, audience members will be invited to keep their phones on for ‘A Suffocating Choking Feeling’ (pictured), to join the live feed and ‘troll’ Simone throughout the performance. The idea behind the production is that social media itself has become a global performance stage, with fake personas becoming a normality. The work dives into influencer culture and the illusion of authenticity online, satirising the obsession with ‘instafame’. The show has previously celebrated sold-out seasons at Futures Festival, Pleasance Theatre in London last year, and La Mama Theatre in Melbourne this February.

Digital credentials

Fobi, an AI and data intelligence company, has signed a two-year agreement with Thunderbird Show Park for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Thunderbird Show Park in Vancouver is an equestrian event facility, which hosts up to 12 weeks of hunting, jumping and dressage tournaments each year. Fobi will provide digital credentials for show attendees, exhibitors, VIPs and sponsors, along with a newly enhanced digital ticketing platform to support the sale of online event ticket purchases. The implementation of digital credentials with enhance security for Thunderbird Show Park, and will also streamline the experience for guests and exhibitors.
