Cathay Pacific suffers another ticketing error

Cathay Pacific Airways, one of Asia’s largest international carriers, has made yet another major ticketing blunder after listing first-class seats at economy prices.

Flights from Hong Kong to Portugal were listed on the company’s website for $1,512, rather than the usual premium price of $16,000 for that journey.

Cathay has again said it would honour the first-class tickets as it investigates the cause of the error.

In a statement, the Hong Kong carrier said it would honour the tickets: “We are looking into the root cause of this incident both internally and externally with our vendors.

“For the very small number of customers who have purchased these tickets, we look forward to welcoming you on board to enjoy our premium services.”

Earlier this month, the airline made the same mistake and honoured tickets bought for a mere $675 that should have cost $16,000.

The ticketing error listed business and first-class flights from Vietnam to New York for the price of the economy class fare. The South China Morning Post found 11 passengers who collectively bought 18 first and business-class tickets at the discounted prices, paying a total of £21,700 for flights that should have cost £540,000.
