Tickets to watch footballer Cristiano Ronaldo play in China were snapped up in just a few hours today (Thursday), as his current club is set to face the likes of Shanghai Shenhua and Zhejiang Football Club as part of an upcoming tour.

Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, which will face the two Chinese Super League clubs on January 24 and 28 in Shanghai and Shenzhen.

According to a report from AFP, tickets were sold out across multiple sales platforms, while other media outlets said that tickets (apart from in the two most expensive categories) had sold out in seconds.

The Portuguese player joined Al-Nassr in January last year, after his contract with Premier League club Manchester United was terminated by mutual agreement in November 2022.

Last month, fans of Argentine footballer Lionel Messi also scrambled to secure tickets for a friendly in Hong Kong next month.

Messi’s MLS club Inter Miami CF is set to face a side made up of Hong Kong players at Hong Kong Stadium.

After tickets sold out in under an hour, fans were instructed to be wary of resale tickets and to avoid ticket touts.
