Grammy Award-winning band Maroon 5 has been announced as a headline act for the Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort’s grand opening in South Korea on March 8 and 9.

The American group is due to take centre stage at the 15,000-seat Inspire Arena over the two dates to mark the inaugural international artist showcase at the venue situated in Yeongjeong Island.

Fans will be able to secure their place at the event soon, with tickets scheduled to go on sale on February 15 through online ticketing portal Interpark.

“It is a thrill to see Mohegan Inspire gear up for this grand opening celebration, a testament to the hard work and dedication that has brought us to this moment,” said president of Inspire Chen Si.

“This milestone brings an unparalleled resort experience to visitors of all backgrounds.”

Preceding the main opening event, a special concert called Inspire Salute featuring several K-pop artists is due to be held on March 2.

It is described as a “heartfelt expression of gratitude” towards the local community, Inspire employees, families, and VIP guests for their support.

In addition to music, there will be an international sporting competition taking place later in the month from March 27 to 31.

The World Table Tennis Champions Incheon event is taking place at Inspire and will feature 32 of the world’s best players including China’s Olympic champions Fan Zhendong and Sun Yingsha.

“We are on the brink of a historic moment with the grand opening of Inspire,” said Ray Pineault, president and chief executive of Mohegan.

“This is not just a celebration of our newest offerings but a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. Hosting Maroon 5 and an array of world-class entertainment reflects our commitment to providing exceptional experiences. We’re ready to set a new benchmark in hospitality and entertainment, welcoming guests from around the globe to discover the magic of Inspire.”

Inspire underwent a soft launch last November for its three hotel towers, arena, water park, casino, and outdoor entertainment park.

There are still plans in place to unveil additional facilities in the future such as a 1,000-seat food court, a digital art exhibition centre, and an indoor children’s playground.
