Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

West End theatres implement new ticketing platform

Ticketing software business Line-Up has unveiled its new platform across Lloyd Webber Theatres’ six West End venues.

The technology is said to give venues more flexibility in its ticketing system with the ability to also customise a solution that is designed around their business and future strategy. It also aims to offer a high level of security and reliability.

“Ours is the only system on the market that combines extensive software engineering expertise with the domain experience of leading West End theatre specialists,” said Line-Up chief executive Barnaby Clark.

“We’re delighted to have completed the rollout of our solution across all six of LW Theatres’ exceptional venues.”

LW Theatres co-chief executive Jules Arnott added: “This is truly a product that supports our ambition and future strategy. Line-Up’s technology is leading-edge, allowing us to provide a differentiated experience for our customers – while providing all the scalability, security and flexibility a business like ours needs.”

Apple and Google Wallets coming to Edinburgh Festival Fringe

This year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August will see the introduction of Apple Wallet and Google Wallet ticketing functionality.

It will allow audience members to instantly save electronic tickets booked via the Fringe Box Office to their mobile phones.

The new functionality is said to have been made possible by Fringe sponsor Johnnie Walker.

“We know from the feedback we’ve received that audience members are eager for this development, and we’re delighted to be able to provide it in time for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024,” said chief executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Shona McCarthy.

“We’re incredibly appreciative of our friends at Johnnie Walker Princes Street for making it possible.”
